Now Accepting Registrations for April Workshop

Stanley_01_proof The very first Ten For The Weekend workshop is over, and I am now accepting registrations for the April 25th-27th workshop.  The registrations have started to come in, so be sure to book before the class fills up.  I will close registration on April 20th, or when we reach 10 participants, whichever comes first.

There are only three of these workshops left this year, and then there will be no more until 2009, so if you are looking for a way to learn studio lighting, beef up your portfolio, and finally get Photoshop under your belt, don't wait too long!

Shooting_proof_2If none of the available dates work for you, or you want some time one on one to specifically address your needs, you can always sign up for a One For The Day workshop.  Although there is a suggested agenda outlined on the website, you can actually use that day anyway you like.

For example, next month I'll be doing a private three-day One For The Day series with a photographer from Florida, where we'll Quiet_baby_proofspend one day creating and publishing her website, one day shooting practice sessions to strengthen her portfolio, and one day continuing her Photoshop education.  (When you book more then one day back to back, I discount the additional days.)  These are only available until the fall, due to the busy holiday season, and I only book two per month, so availability on these is limited.

I'll be posting more images from last weekend's workshop in the coming days, so stay tuned!

More Workshop Images

Curtis_104_proofHere are some more images from the practice sessions during the One For The Day workshop I taught a few weeks ago, which I finally had a chance to work on tonight.  I always give a selection of retouched images as a thank you to the clients who bring their children in to model for us.

Today really IS the last day...

Last week, I posted that it was the last day to sign up for the Ten For The Weekend workshop starting this Friday.  The place I am hosting it gave me a few more days to give them the final headcount, so today is the actual last day to sign up.

There is still room if you want to sign up, and this will be the best price on this class.  Starting with the April workshop, the price will increase to $1200 instead of $750.  The only thing you need to hold your spot is a $250 deposit.  The rest is payable when you check in on Friday.

To read more about the class, visit my workshop website.

Extended deadline to register for the workshop

As of today, I still had a couple of open spots left in the Ten For The Weekend workshop, and about a dozen people who said they wanted to register but needed a little more time to make arrangements before they could commit to the class.

Good news...

Today, the Hyatt let me have one more week to give them the final head count, so you all have a little bit longer to decide.

If you want one of the remaining spots in the class, visit my workshop website and register there.

Hey all you photographers out there...

Tomorrow is the very last day to register for Ten For The Weekend, the three-day workshop on studio lighting, practice sessions, digital workflow, and Photoshop.  It is February 29th - March 2nd, and there are still a couple of spots left.

The cost for all three days is $750, but all you need to hold your spot is a $250 deposit.  The rest is payable at check-in on the first day.

After this first weekend, the price will go up, so if you've been thinking about registering for it, now's your last chance!

One On One Time

02_09 This weekend I taught a One For The Day workshop for Tammy, an awesome photographer-to-be from Florida.  We actually did two one day workshops back-to-back, so she could spend more time on each topic and make her trip across the country worthwhile.
We spent the entire first day in the studio learning all about lighting and doing some amazing practice sessions.  We photographed a beautiful 12-day-old baby girl, a very cool 3 month old boy, and a very patient pregnant mommy!
As far as sample sessions go, we really couldn't have asked for better models.
Today was the second day, and I inundated Tammy with the world of Photoshop.  By the end of the weekend, we were both pretty tired, but I had an absolute blast.
Here are some of the gorgeous shots Tammy took on Friday and learned to retouch today.

How To Photograph Your Child Workshop - Update

The first How To Photograph Your Child workshop is open and scheduled for Monday, February 18th, which is President's Day and a holiday for many of the schools.  It is being hosted by Carla Ortega, in her home in Valencia.

There are only two spots left, so be sure to register asap if you are interested.

If you would like to host a workshop of your own, and you live in the Santa Clarita Valley, you can pick an available date on the Details page and fill out the registration form as a host.

Ten For The Weekend - Update

For those of you who've been thinking about coming for the February 29 - March 2nd Ten For The Weekend, but have been waiting for enrollment to reach the required minimum of five participants, the waiting is over!

We now have five people, so the workshop is officially booked, and there are five spots left.  I have had several people fill out the registration form to hold their spots, but not submit the payment yet.  Since the class size is so small, I cannot hold any spots without at least the $500 deposit.

If you want more info on this three-day workshop, you can check out the website:  www.autumnhullworkshops.com

Who's Up For Some Sight-Seeing?

Graumanschinese_2 One of my workshop attendees for the February 29-March 2 Ten For The Weekend has said that as long as she's out here, she'd love to see some of the Los Angeles sights, but doesn't want to venture into a strange city alone.

Jlmstarshollywood_sign_3 If a few more of you want to add a day to your trip out here, I might be persuaded to take you on a little guided tour to see the sights.  We could go to the famous Hollywood and Vine and see the Chinese Theater with all the handprints and stars on the sidewalk, see the Hollywood sign, drive on the Sunset Strip, go up into the Hollywood Hills and see the mansions, drive out to the awesomely funky Venice Beach, and maybe hit Rodeo Drive so we can get kicked out of the fancy boutiques a la Pretty Woman.

972005rodeo_drive_beverly_hillssm_2 There is also the fabulously gaudy Universal Citywalk, the oh-so-hip Melrose shopping area, the LA Farmer's Market, movie studio lots, Griffith Observitory where you can see the almost the entire city from up high, the Santa Monica Pier, the list goes on and on... We couldn't see everything, but we could have a mighty fun time.

It would be a great day to bring your camera and capture some of the sights of Los Angeles that you just won't see anywhere else.

Losangelesuniversalcitywalkpic_fs_3 I don't know how I'd actually be able to swing a fourth day away from the family to do something like this, but it sure does sound like a good time, and a great way for this mommy of four to have a mini-vacation.

Heck, even if you aren't taking the workshop, you should come just for the day trip!

Anyone interested?

2008 workshops available

Well, I can finally exhale.  After months of planning, all of my new workshops are on my website and ready to go!  I have offered my online workshop, "The Business of Child Photography" for five years, and now there are FIVE new ways to learn about photography.  Let me break it down for you.

If you want to learn all about lighting, equipment, digital workflow, Photoshop, and practice photo sessions featuring newborns, babies, toddlers, families, and expectant mothers, you have two options:  You can come to my Ten For The Weekend workshop and spend three days with up to nine other students, OR, you can come for just one day and have me all to yourself with the One For The Day workshop.

If you really only need help with one thing, like how to set up studio lights and use them, or how to use Photoshop, you can sign up for the One A La Mode workshop, which is a private, one-on-one half-day workshop.  It's really just One For The Day, but only the part you want.

If you are just looking for someone to answer your questions and give you some general guidance, you can sign up for One On The Phone, which is mentoring by telephone.

The last workshop, How To Photograph Your Child, is completely different.  It is an in-person, hands-on workshop for parents who just want to know how to take better photographs of their children.  I've taught this one before and it is really fun.

All of these workshops have complete details on my website www.autumnhullworkshops.com, so take a look and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

See you all in class!
