After months of just being too busy to blog, I have a great new excuse for a post today. Last week I received the pettiskirt I purchased for my studio and oh my, is it adorable. My daughter Katie wore it yesterday and I had to take her into the studio for a session.
This was her outfit for the day, and it happened to coincide with the day I took all four kids for their haircuts. When the hairstylist saw the skirt, she said "I think we'll have to do something funky today to go with that skirt!" Hence the kooky braided pigtails.
I have always been a photographer who prefers clean, simple images, with no props and all the attention directed onto the subject's face.
When my daughter started a ballet class at the age of four, I purchased my first tutu. That's when it all started.
Apparently, for me, Tutus are the gateway prop. First I had one, then a couple more, and by the end of 2007 I had over a dozen tutus of all different sizes and colors, including a baby chicken tutu.
And once you have all those tutus, what could be more natural then to have a pair of wings? Or two. Or five.
My name is Autumn, and I'm addicted to girly props.
Now I those tutus and wings just don't keep me satisfied. I had to move on to the next new thing that would give me that "Oh My God, that is the cutest thing I've ever seen" feeling.
That's when I discovered The Pettiskirt.
I first saw one months ago, but I knew I would fall madly in love with them, and so I resisted. I finally caved and rewarded myself with one right after the Christmas season.
Hey, don't judge me... It's huge, it's vibrant, it poofs way out and swirls and bounces when you walk, it's soft... what's not to love?
I think I'll be fine now. I'm sure I'll feel the urgent need to purchase about five more in a rainbow of colors by the end of this year, but as long as you don't see me walking my kids home from school wearing one of these babies, just leave me to my frilly, bouncy, girly happiness.
