The Big Step
This picture is saying to me "Hello Autumn. I'm a loft space with hideous colors and a heart of gold. Won't you please adopt me, clean me up pretty, and make a studio out of me?"
Today I officially put in a bid for a studio space of my own. After almost 9 years of shooting out of my garage, it's time to take the next step. I found a place with a great location, just the right size, in an affordable price range, and the most awful wall colors I've ever seen. Upstairs they mixed the pea-green and mustard with a surprising navy blue colored wall, just for fun. Ugh. Part of my proposal includes requests for new floor and new paint, so I'm hoping they throw that in for me so I don't have to do it myself.
Tomorrow I turn in all of my application paperwork and wait to see how they received my proposal. They'll either accept it, or it's negotiation time.
If I get this space, it will not only be perfect for shooting and presenting proofs, but it's a great size to host the workshops that up until now I've had to hold at a meeting room in a nearby hotel.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
I am sending a bunch of very happy thoughts your way. I hope that they will accept it, you deserve this very cute place of your own.
