Finally finished!

Travinsky_116_proof There has been so much going on here lately, sick kids, workshops, looking for a studio space, etc., etc, etc, that I haven't had as much time in Photoshop as I usually do, and what should have taken a day or two ended up dragging on for two weeks.  I finally finished the session for Mack, an ADORABLE little tiny newborn, who is probably driving his first car by now since I've made them wait so long to see these pictures!

Here are a couple more from the session, which I will post in its entirety as soon as I get my website squared away.  Looks like I need to move hosts, which is always a pain.  Sigh...

Michelle, here are a few more to look at until I can post the whole session.

One more...

OK Michelle,

I promise I'll have this session finished and posted for you tomorrow.  Until then, here is one last sneak peek for you...Travinsky_114_proof

Check out my updated gallery

I created the gallery on my new website over a year ago, and I haven't updated it since then, so nothing I shot this year was included.  I finally decided to update it this week to include some of my newer work, especially all of the beach sessions I had this year.  Take a look when you get a chance!

Little Man

Travinsky_113_proof I think mom's actual words while I took this shot were "He's going to kill me for this one when he gets older."  I think she may be right, but if you can't dress up your newborn babies and pose them for your own entertainment, what's the point of having children at all?  Am I right?

More from a recent session

Travinsky_106_proofI know I've missed a few days, it's just been busy around here.  I worked on a few more from a recent session with a newborn, his mommy, and his grandpa.  This was such a great session to work on tonight.  I've been so busy with workshops, it was great to sit down and have fun working in Photoshop on one of my own sessions.

Now Accepting Registrations for April Workshop

Stanley_01_proof The very first Ten For The Weekend workshop is over, and I am now accepting registrations for the April 25th-27th workshop.  The registrations have started to come in, so be sure to book before the class fills up.  I will close registration on April 20th, or when we reach 10 participants, whichever comes first.

There are only three of these workshops left this year, and then there will be no more until 2009, so if you are looking for a way to learn studio lighting, beef up your portfolio, and finally get Photoshop under your belt, don't wait too long!

Shooting_proof_2If none of the available dates work for you, or you want some time one on one to specifically address your needs, you can always sign up for a One For The Day workshop.  Although there is a suggested agenda outlined on the website, you can actually use that day anyway you like.

For example, next month I'll be doing a private three-day One For The Day series with a photographer from Florida, where we'll Quiet_baby_proofspend one day creating and publishing her website, one day shooting practice sessions to strengthen her portfolio, and one day continuing her Photoshop education.  (When you book more then one day back to back, I discount the additional days.)  These are only available until the fall, due to the busy holiday season, and I only book two per month, so availability on these is limited.

I'll be posting more images from last weekend's workshop in the coming days, so stay tuned!

More Workshop Images

Curtis_104_proofHere are some more images from the practice sessions during the One For The Day workshop I taught a few weeks ago, which I finally had a chance to work on tonight.  I always give a selection of retouched images as a thank you to the clients who bring their children in to model for us.

The Last Day

Last_day_proof Today was the end of the three day workshop, and this is all of us in front of the hotel, after our brains were thoroughly fried from a day of Photoshop.  It was such a great group of photographers and I had just a wonderful time.

I'm actually glad it worked out to be a smaller group.  I felt like I got to know everyone and we really got to take our time with everything.  I'm thinking about changing the workshop to a 5 person limit instead of 10.  We'll see...

Thanks so much, Virginia, Angelia, Christine, and Shawnie. You guys were awesome.

Ten For The Weekend

Day_one_proofI missed yet another day of posting due to the Ten For The Weekend workshop going on this weekend.  I was going to skip another night, but I got some great behind the scenes shots over the past couple of days that I wanted to share.  (A few of these shots were actually taken by students during the workshop, which will be obvious by the fact that I am in the photos!)

Toddler_proof We had some cancellations, so it ended up being a smaller group.  That worked out well though, as we were able to slow the pace down and allow everyone a chance to ask as many questions as they wanted and they all got plenty of chances to shoot during the practice sessions.

Yesterday was the first day.  We started with lighting equipment and I showed them what I use in my studio and how to use it.  We ended up getting distracted by all the yummy food that kept being brought in to us, so we ran a little late that day.  Twin_todler_proofWe also had a nice long stretch of time where we just sat around the table and discussed pricing, marketing, getting established, and all that fun stuff.  I could talk about that part of the photography business all day, so I really enjoyed it.

We also studied up a little on the types of photo sessions we were going to have the next day.  I planned a marathon photo shoot with back to back sessions all day from 9:30 in the morning until 6pm, so we needed to prepare ourselves!

Today was the shoot, and even though I am exhausted, it was a blast.  We had so many kinds of sessions with all different levels of challenge.  We got to tackle the toddler session right off the bat, and I had booked a cute as a button 2 year old girl, a shy at first but charming 1 1/2 year old boy, and some wild and crazy twin 2 year old boys and their saintly 6 year old brother.

Wrapping_a_baby_proof_2Throughout the day, we had newborn babies, not-quite-sitting-up babies, sitting-up babies, a family of five and two of the coolest, most fun maternity models I have ever worked with.  It was a great variety and a pretty good "slice" of the kind of work I do as part of my business.

Tomorrow we spend the day learning Photoshop, as we take all those images from today and edit them down to just the best, then retouch those images to make them even better.  Also tomorrow... the chocolate-themed snack break I scheduled for 3:00.  I'll be dreaming about that as I drift off to a well-deserved sleep tonight.

Maybe tomorrow I'll have some finished proofs to show after our day of Photoshop.  But for now...

Good Night!
