Who's Up For Some Sight-Seeing?

Graumanschinese_2 One of my workshop attendees for the February 29-March 2 Ten For The Weekend has said that as long as she's out here, she'd love to see some of the Los Angeles sights, but doesn't want to venture into a strange city alone.

Jlmstarshollywood_sign_3 If a few more of you want to add a day to your trip out here, I might be persuaded to take you on a little guided tour to see the sights.  We could go to the famous Hollywood and Vine and see the Chinese Theater with all the handprints and stars on the sidewalk, see the Hollywood sign, drive on the Sunset Strip, go up into the Hollywood Hills and see the mansions, drive out to the awesomely funky Venice Beach, and maybe hit Rodeo Drive so we can get kicked out of the fancy boutiques a la Pretty Woman.

972005rodeo_drive_beverly_hillssm_2 There is also the fabulously gaudy Universal Citywalk, the oh-so-hip Melrose shopping area, the LA Farmer's Market, movie studio lots, Griffith Observitory where you can see the almost the entire city from up high, the Santa Monica Pier, the list goes on and on... We couldn't see everything, but we could have a mighty fun time.

It would be a great day to bring your camera and capture some of the sights of Los Angeles that you just won't see anywhere else.

Losangelesuniversalcitywalkpic_fs_3 I don't know how I'd actually be able to swing a fourth day away from the family to do something like this, but it sure does sound like a good time, and a great way for this mommy of four to have a mini-vacation.

Heck, even if you aren't taking the workshop, you should come just for the day trip!

Anyone interested?

Gina Alexander Purses 25%

From now until January 31st, Gina Alexander is having a sale on their custom photo purses.  They don't have sales this great all that often, so if you've been thinking about ordering a purse from one of our previous sessions, you should take advantage of the great price.

Imagechristine1You can see their entire line by downloading the price booklet on my prices page.

There are two new styles that are not yet listed in my prices booklet.  The first and newest is the Christine Handbag. It is 13" wide, 11" high, and 7" deep, with plaid fabric on the side panels and laced through the leather panels on the top.

The standard price on the Christine Handbag is $298 plus tax shipping, but with the sale going on right now you can get it for $223 plus tax and shipping.  That's a great deal on an adorable handbag.

The other new style is a little more rockin', and I just love it.

Collectionjanie_2It's called the Janie Handbag, and it has metal studs along the top and a detailed leather top and side panels.  This is such a cool bag.  It's my my other favorite, along with the Black and White Candy Bag mentioned below.

The Janie Handbag is normally priced at $335 plus tax and shipping, but with the sale you can get it for only $252 plus tax & shipping.

To order these or any style handbag and take advantage of the sale, be sure to contact me no later than January 30th @ 5pm.  My number is 661-297-6951 or you can email me at autumn@autumnhullphoto.com.  Happy purse shopping!

Let's Make It A Little More Interesting, Shall We?

In order to make this 366 Project a little more interesting, and to add a little extra challenge, I'm going to offer a prize (I did say I love prizes) to my readers when I miss a day.

If I do not post an image by 12 midnight (Pacific Time), the first person to email me will win a FREE 8x10 print (from any past or future session) OR a 1/2 hour One On The Phone mentoring session, for you budding photographers out there.

Also, I see a lot of readers out there, but where are your comments?  I know it's hard to be the first to comment on someone else's blog, so how about a little incentive.

For each comment you make anywhere on the blog, I will enter your name once in a drawing.  At the end of the month, I will pick one name at random to receive either a FREE 5x7 print of your choice or a 15 minute One On The Phone mentoring session.  I will have a drawing every month, and start with a new list of entries each month.

Be sure you post with your name, not Anonymous, or I won't know who you are!

Let the games begin!

Photo Of The Day

01_24_2 I'm killing two birds with one stone today.

I wanted to photograph the new purse that came in this week before I shipped it off to my client, so today this is my photo of the day.

Not the most challenging shot creatively, but you gotta love this purse!  It's called the Black & White Candy Bag from Gina Alexander.  It's one of their newer styles and I just love it.

The sides are made of a rich, textured fabric, and the leather is so soft.  Yummy.  You can also get it with a chocolate brown and aqua pattern or a hot pink paisley pattern.

01_24_b Oh, and here's the other side.

Come vote for me!

Or someone else... whatever you want.

I have an image entered in a "win a free pettiskirt" contest, held by The Beloved Child, who sells the most gorgeous pettiskirts I've ever seen.  To enter, I had to photograph one of their pettiskirts and submit it to the owner's blog.  Visitors to her blog can vote on their favorite and the photographer with the winning image will get a free pettiskirt.

Click HERE to see the images and vote.  I won't tell you which one is mine, I'm no cheater!  I just want to get more people over there to participate in the voting.

In addition to their scrumptious pettiskirts, they also sell beautiful children's clothing on their site The Beloved Child, so take a look around!

Best of 2007 Contest

As I sat sorting out all my images from last year, getting things ready for a new year, I thought I'd try something new.  I'm posting 30 of my favorite images from 2007, and I'm leaving it up to you to pick the best three.  Just to make it more fun, there will be prizes.  (Yay!  I love prizes!)

The winning shot will be printed as an 11x14 and presented to the client.  The 2nd place shot will receive an 8x10 print, and the 3rd place shot will receive a 5x7 print.

Also, I will pick one voter to receive a $50 credit good toward your next session fee, prints from a previous session, or workshop fee.

To vote, email me at autumn@autumnhullphoto.com and write the number of your favorite image in the subject line.  You can leave the email itself blank.

Please vote only once, but your friends and family are welcome to vote.

I will close the voting and announce the winner on February 1st.

My Pic For The Day

01_24_3 Having twin toddler boys is a challenge, (which is a huge understatement, by the way), but there are parts that are so amazing they take your breath away.  I got them down for their naps, finally got my shower, and headed downstairs to work for a while.  As I passed by the living room, I saw this and it just made me smile.  It was a little reminder... Hey, I have TWO awesome little boys.

The 366 Project - kinda

So I recently read about this challenge, called 366, issued by another photographer to photographers with blogs.  The challenge is to shoot and publish one photograph a day, and since this year is a leap year, you'd end up with 366 images by the end of the year, hence the name.  The idea is to challenge you to be creative every day.

Well, I love the idea, but as this is already January 21st, I missed the boat.  I think I'll paddle hard and try to keep up though, because I want to play too!  I guess this would be The 346 Project for me.

Alex_jan08_proof_2 Here is my first entry, and I'm already cheating.  I took this on Saturday, but I just got a chance to look at it today.  Hey, I have an 8 year old, a 5 year old, AND twin 2 year olds.  Let's face it... I might have to cheat to get this done.

This is my super-awesome son in my favorite sweater of his.  It was haircut day, and I happened to have the studio set up.  I also took pictures of my daughter (see below) with her adorable hairdo.

You have no idea how many cheesy, goofy-faced outtakes I have to endure in order to get just one natural smile, but it is totally worth it.

So here it is.. my first entry.  Only 345 to go... wish me luck!

2008 workshops available

Well, I can finally exhale.  After months of planning, all of my new workshops are on my website and ready to go!  I have offered my online workshop, "The Business of Child Photography" for five years, and now there are FIVE new ways to learn about photography.  Let me break it down for you.

If you want to learn all about lighting, equipment, digital workflow, Photoshop, and practice photo sessions featuring newborns, babies, toddlers, families, and expectant mothers, you have two options:  You can come to my Ten For The Weekend workshop and spend three days with up to nine other students, OR, you can come for just one day and have me all to yourself with the One For The Day workshop.

If you really only need help with one thing, like how to set up studio lights and use them, or how to use Photoshop, you can sign up for the One A La Mode workshop, which is a private, one-on-one half-day workshop.  It's really just One For The Day, but only the part you want.

If you are just looking for someone to answer your questions and give you some general guidance, you can sign up for One On The Phone, which is mentoring by telephone.

The last workshop, How To Photograph Your Child, is completely different.  It is an in-person, hands-on workshop for parents who just want to know how to take better photographs of their children.  I've taught this one before and it is really fun.

All of these workshops have complete details on my website www.autumnhullworkshops.com, so take a look and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

See you all in class!
